Changing the world an industry at a time

In May 2010, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, from left, Toyota President Akio Toyoda and Tesla CEO Elon Musk close a deal to reopen the Fremont plant for vehicle manufacturing and forms a partnership between the two automakers.

Elon Musk had an impressive year by any standard, writes Moryt Milo, editor of the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal. His electric car company became the first auto firm since Ford to go public, he landed an investment from Toyota and a loan from the U.S. Department of Energy, and his aerospace company became the first private company to launch a rocket into space.
