Kno, a Silicon Valley startup that makes tablets especially designed for students, plans to release a single-screen device to compliment its previously announced 14.1-inch dual-panel tablet.
Student feedback has forced Kno and a key competitor and fellow startup, Entourage eDge, to design more compact tablets. Seven months after unveiling a 10-inch, dual-screen Android tablet, Entourage is planning a seven-inch, pocket-sized version.
Both Kno and Entourage face stiff competition from Inkling, a San Francisco startup with an iPad app which also targets the textbook market.
