Editor's Choice: VMware going mobile

VMware recently announced its new mobile virtualization platform (MVP), which lets users run two operating systems on the same device at the same time. Chief technology officer Stephen Herrod announced the new technology at the VMworld conference in Cannes. An MVP demonstration showed Microsoft's Windows CE and Google's Android running side-by-side on one handset for the first time. MVP is designed to bring the benefits of virtualization seen on PCs to mobile devices. Herrod noted that there still some problems being worked on. "Power management is a big issue," he said.
